Jassmine Joseph holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of Malaya and was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2018. With expertise in Industrial Relations and Employment Law, she has a strong track record in advising businesses on workplace challenges and legal compliance.

 

She began her career in civil litigation, handling cases involving medical negligence, professional negligence, employment disputes, construction law, and land matters. This experience honed her critical thinking and problem-solving skills, essential for resolving complex employment issues.

 

Jassmine later transitioned into the corporate sector as a Regional Legal Executive for a multinational HR solutions firm, providing legal counsel on employment law and commercial contracts across Malaysia, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Her multi-jurisdictional experience gives her valuable insight into the legal risks businesses face in workforce management.

 

Her combined experience as both a practicing lawyer and an in-house legal advisor allows her to deliver practical, commercially viable, and legally sound strategies. As a trainer and consultant, Jassmine is passionate about helping organizations manage employment challenges, mitigate legal risks, and create compliant workplace policies.

  • Legal definitions (EA, Anti-SHA, Code of Practice)

  • Key elements: Unwanted conduct, sexual nature, negative impact

  • Types: Hostile work environment vs quid pro quo

  • Forms: Verbal, non-verbal/gestural, visual, psychological, physical

  • Situations where harassment can occur (workplace, events, travel, online)

  • Case studies: Malaysian precedents

  • Internal complaint channels (informal vs formal)

  • Recommending corrective actions to management

  • Handling false allegations carefully

Module 4: Consequences of Sexual Harassment

  • Disciplinary actions (warning, transfer, demotion, termination)

  • Legal consequences under Anti-SHA Tribunal & Penal Code

  • Organizational risks: culture damage, turnover, reputational harm
